DataSource 4.2
Multiple Product Images
In our ongoing efforts to increase rich content in key categories, we have expanded coverage for multiple product images in the following categories:
- Desktops & Servers
- Projectors
- Video Game Consoles
- Speakers
- Mobile Phones
Please note these categories were added in addition to the key categories launched in the DataSource releases 4.0 and 4.1 in 2009.
Partial SKU Delivery: Specs & Attributes
The Partial SKU Delivery Service launched in the Summer 2009 DataSource release has been expanded. As a reminder, the Partial SKU Delivery Service provides product information in draft mode, for quicker distribution. This allows you to reap the benefits of DataSource at the very beginning of a product's lifecycle, or when only incomplete data is available from the manufacturer.
Previously, Partial SKU information consisted of:
- Manufacturer
- Part Number
- Class/Category
- Product Line/Model
- Marketing Description/Image when available
In this 4.2 release, we have added the following components to the Partial SKU information when available:
- Searchable Attributes
- Standardized Descriptions
- Main Specifications
- Extended Specifications
These components are made available for a sub-set of Partial SKUs. All Partial SKUs continue through the regular production process and will emerge as a Completed SKU when the complete product specs are available and research is done.
Box Images for Software Licenses
Traditionally software license SKUs were delivered by CNET with either a default "No image available" picture or sometimes an image of the software licensing program.
Based on many of your requests, when available we have replaced the "No image available" with the new image type within CCS Product Images called "Box Image for Software License". This "Box Image for Software License" image type value will be available when we can identify that an image of the box for the software license exists to attach to the SKU.
Please note that this is not a product shot as the box is not included with such licenses, but it will improve the look and feel of software product pages on your website.
It is your choice whether to display these images as is, display them with a disclaimer indicating that the actual box on the image is not included, or filter them out altogether.
Extranet Improvements
There have been several improvements to the Customer Extranet, including:
- Multiple SKU Search: now it is possible to search by multiple SKU IDs at the same time
- SKU Search by resolution and quantity of available product images
- SKU Search using Rich Content availability criteria: PDFs, Product Features and Key Selling Points
- Improved "Generate" SKU list functionality: Removed the 30,000 SKU limit on the generation of an export file
- New "Attributes" tab on the SKU detail page that lists the searchable attributes/values for parametric search, product comparison and custom categorization rules
